.: The Interface :.

The interface is shown as a screenshot on a separate page. Jump to that page HERE.

The user works from left to right, assuming control over various parameters that are related to this study.

[1.] Beginning with the master volume and audio on/of in the "start here" section (colored lightest blue) the user starts the system

[2.] The user then moves onto the "operation section" beginning the tone playback and subsequently, the masking noise playback as well.

[3.] Next, the user moves onto the "exploration section". Here they are able to tweak the most crucial parameters to the masking illusion.

[4.] On the farthest right, in the "data section" the user is able to enter in their name and choose to save their specific parameter selections to a separate data collection window. This window is shown as a screenshot below the Interface Screenshot.

More Interfaces

Besides expanding upon a creative way to learn or teach psychoacoustics, interfaces such as these are the type of work that can lead you as a sound synthesist and csounder to begin to integrate your work into the cognitive and eventually clinical sciences. As an example, check out an interface designed by a like minded synthesist that automates many of the research techniques used by music therapy and music psychology researchers. LINK HERE
