I cant seem to get Csound to install on my mac i have the new macbook and I looked at other posts about this and tried the macsound program and cant seem to get it to work. i work with Csound in my classes at school but need it on my home computer to do my work. Re: Instructions for installing (Mac)

Hi Brien,

MacCsound does not work all by itself anymore. You also need to install one of the Csound packages for OS X from Sourceforge. Normally, on an Intel Mac, you would want to install the Csound5.07-OSX10.4-Intel.tar.gz package. BUT, MacCsound is a PowerPC-only program, so you must install the PPC package (and not the Intel one too).

So, go to

http://csound.sourceforge.net/

and scroll down to the Downloads section and find the file Csound5.07-OSX10.4-PPC.tar.gz. Or just click here to download it directly:

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/csound/Csound5.07-OSX10.4-PPC.tar.gz?download

Hopefully, that will get everything working for you!

Anthony

thanks for the help, one more question

Hey, Thanks for the help Anthony. I have another question, on a mac what word processor do i use to write my orc and sco files, on the PC we use notepad in class. any sugestions?

csound editors...

On a Mac you can use blue, which is a nice Csound frontend, or else you can use MacCsound, or alternatively you can use the editor that comes with the csound5gui application. All of these editor feature nice syntax highlighting modes. You can also use emacs, there is a Csound syntax mode for that too. Sorry I don't have more details, I'm not a mac user. Good luck,

Rory.
