I am a composer with a strong interest and passion for extending our pitch language by using alternate tunings, including just intonation and other ways of dividing the octave, etc.
This piece uses 17-edo, or the 17-note equal division of the octave. I was inspired by my colleague Jacob Barton's telling that he was working on a similar project: microtonal chiptune music (i.e. music inspired by 8-bit video game music)
I didn't have the title until after I finished yesterday...I realized that my daughter's 'characters' that she animates with her index fingers were good names to use for conjuring the spirit of the music.
I used custom software, available from my website http://www.akjmusic.com/packages , called 'microcsound' which is a parser for my own 'language' for composing microtonal scores and converting them to Csound score-files. More detail can be found at http://www.akjmusic.com/microcsound_tutorial.txt

Very nice piece!
I really liked this piece, and the 17-TET sounds great. I do mainly microtonal and have a few pieces here, and more at http://www.mediafire.com/brianwong and http://www.myspace.com/boscotung. Just intonation, various ets, even the occasional 12-TET! Keep up the excellent work!
