newbie question, probably a simple answer to this question

I have just started using Csound and I'm working my way through the Csound book's chapters. I am now doing the etude.1 exercises and I've run into a problem. One of the execises asks the user to play back a sample. I'm using a pc so I used another sample other than the aiff file one asked for. So I typed the sample's name and the header, wav, and when I compiled the code, I got the meesage that the file could not be opened (even the aiff file sample recommended by the book couldn't be opened but I thought this is because I'm using a pc and not a mac???). Is this a problem with WinXound (this is the frontened I'm using), should I place my samples in a specific folder so that Csound or WinXound know where to look for them? Thanks for your help.:)

we shall see...

Hello transfer,

I'm new to CSound too, so, I will try the same exercise, but I've had the best luck with Silence (Direct CSound.) This is only with rendering though...I'm sure there is a better editor that works.

Hope you haven't shy'd away after 8 or so months!

oh!

there is also the CsoundQt...that's the one that i used in my piece. a very nice program...
